There is, as yet, no evidence linking John Brickles of London to the Shaftesbury area, but several references to John Brickles have been found in:
"John Stow - A Survey of London" ( ISBN 0 19 821257 7 ) - a two volume impression from 1971, a photographic reprint of the 1908 edition, which is readily available. The 1908 edition is reprinted from the original text of 1603 with Introduction and Notes by Charles Lethbridge Kingsford and was published in Oxford at the Clarendon Press.
There are four pieces of text in this book which refer to John Brickles, two in the main body and two in the Notes: these are shown below.
The Church referred to above is All Hallows
John Brickles, who died in 1437, was evidently a reasonably well to do Draper with property in the Vintry Ward of London.
Brikels Lane was between Three Cranes Lane and Emperor's Head Lane on the north side of the Thames as shown below.
